Wednesday 10th December - walks ***** – Holywells Park and Ipswich waterfront – sunny periods.

Would have got up for a sunrise walk down to Felixstowe prom but it was cloudy so stayed in bed, even Mag did not bother today! I was having a tooth removed at 9.50 today so decided it was best not to go windsurfing in the afternoon! The dentist was brilliant and I was quickly home, my mouth was very numb so decided against packing a picnic so when Mag had finished her breakfast we decided to drive over to Holywells Park in Ipswich for a walk to make the most of the mild winter sunshine! We parked at the entrance just off Landseer Road at 11.30 and entered the park, the path was fairly wet and muddy as we followed the stream, sadly still covered in duck weed as are all the lakes :( We pretty much had the park to ourselves enjoying the peace and quiet and an abundance of wildlife including a heron, loads of squirrels, jays and Magpies, Mag but the bird song app on her phone on and it quickly recorded a dozen! We walked around the edge of the lovely park as a buzzard circled overhead over a carpet of leaves before reaching the stables, as we had no picnic packed today we actually treated ourselves in the café, despite my still numb mouth I managed a latte with a chocolate brownie and Mag said it was the best cappuccino she had ever had! We had a brilliant relaxing time in comphy leather chairs, you can visit Santa there later in the week and the Children get a free present! We then walked up to the old glass conservatory and tried to work out where the house once stood before walking across the park and down to Ipswich waterfront where the Navy ship, The Valliant was moored! We walked past the old barge ner the customs house before returning to the van, a very pleasant 3.50 mile walk. We took the country lane route home past Levington, I sorted my pics out while Mag disappeared to Lidl! Top day and no ill effects of having a tooth removed!
